Comments about Pelican Boats Pelican Intruder 12 Fishing Jon Boat:

The designer recommends 420 lbs as a maximum load. You put 2 people at 180 (with a 6 hp motor at 35 lbs, a 5 gallon fuel tank 40 lbs or a electric motor, 28 lbs with a battery 50 lbs), tackle box with rods and reel at 10 lbs, then add a cooler with one bag of ice, an other 15 lbs. There will be accessories like ore's and floatation devices. I am sure that that the boat would be maxed out. BUT what a great boat for Florida lakes and canals.

Comments about Pelican Boats Pelican Intruder 12 Fishing Jon Boat:

I purchased this boat new approximatly 5 years ago and it has been excellent. I primarily use it on freshwater small to moderate sized lakes and installed 3 swivel seats and use a Minn Kota 50lb thrust trolling motor. It comfortable holds 3 large adults and I have had 4 persons on it at one time (although the 4th had to sit on the floor) and it was still a good time. I outfitted it with inner mounted oars (always have to have oars) and a fish finder.

Comments about Pelican Boats Pelican Intruder 12 Fishing Jon Boat:

I am very satisfied with the Pelican Intruder. It is well constructed but easy to remove from the water for one person. The handles also make this possible. The boat is very stable and easily accommodates two people and their gear. The rod holders make it convenient to fish alone and yet maneuver the boat. I must add that my wife never complains as she rows me around the lake so that I can fish.

Comments about Pelican Boats Pelican Intruder 12 Fishing Jon Boat:

The crawdaddy was perfect for slow rivers, ponds, and was used in lakes up to 55 acres with no problems. It fit relatively well in the back of my small truck (stern out) and once I was familiar with it, was easy in and out, though now I may figure out a bicycle tire type trailer to ease one person launching and loading. It was amazingly stable and I could even stand up to stretch my legs. The additional flotation in it gives a great deal of security, even if filled with water it would still float.

the boat is a great boat,it's to heavy, most people want a boat a small boat that is light easy to put in and out of the water, not one they have to shruggle with.People like easy and light. if you would work on a boat the same size but lighter more people would proably buy it.give it a try and see what will happen.

I see the length and width of the boat, can you tell me how tall the sides are? How do these type boats compare to the aluminum boats of the same length as far a stability in the water?

A motor with a 15 inch shaft is recommended, so I would think the sides are 15 inches. The 15 inch is a short shaft motor that ranges from 15 in. to around 17 in.

There is no information concerning how tall the walls are, however, the boat can hold a weight of up to 420 pounds. Read the second review at this website, it talks about the superior stability of the boat vice aluminum.
