Comments about Roscoby Bow-Mounted Video Camera:

This is a great product and it will capture the moment of truth. It is reliable. First the situations I have used it in, then the con's.

Texas exotic archery hunt in March. Temps ranged from 75 degrees during day to 36 degrees at first light. I was able to capture all the game that came in to my field of view without the worry of alerting game animals. Move the bow. You do not have to reach over to grab a camera arm and move it. I was able to capture the best animal I have taken in over 35 years of archery hunting. I had a big name vidcam and the roscoby mounted to my bow. When the animals came in (Including my Velvet Axis deer) I turned on Roscoby then the other. The big name video camera was dead, even though I had put new batteries in it the evening before. I was in the tree for 2 hours and the temp was in the mid 30's. The Roscoby came through. On another hunt I shot a nice Dahl Ram, also recorded on my Roscoby. In this situation there were several times during the 7 hour hunt that it rained. At one point there was a 20 minute downpour. It worked flawlessly.

That being said.....the cons:
1. When drawing the bow, the video will shake like a wave.
2. You need to practice staying on target after the shot until you do it in your sleep. I shoot about 60 arrows a day....I do not have the Roscoby on however I practice staying on target after shot. In both cases I used this, after the shot I dropped my arm thus not capturing the animal fleeing. As far as the hits, the bow kicks quite violently (as seen through the roscoby) and unless you put a death grip on it, it will appear very un focused at the shot.
3. You need to make sure the mic is fully plugged in regularly. It tends to come loose causing loss of audio.
4. Finally....you can not see what the roscoby is seeing until playback and you can not zoom.

All that being taken into account, its nice to have on the bow to capture the shot. I have since purchased a top dollar vidcam to use with my roscoby. The vid cam should give better video, but when the time comes and I know I will get nailed if I move to zoom, or record (it does have a remote) I can simply not worry as the roscoby will be running.

Comments about Roscoby Bow-Mounted Video Camera:

This is a great tool to capture your hunt without a cameraman. Just push the on button and it is on standby, when the critter gets close push the record button and follow. You have to practice holding your bow steady during and after the shot but it might even make you focus better. Easy to review film on your TV or removable SD card and watch save and share on your computer. It really gets good video. Screws right into your stabilizer threads.

Make sure you use a sans disk (SD). They work great. Also use the Energizer e2 batteries. You can get the disk in many places but the cheapest by far is walmart. DO NOT BUY THE HDSD cards. (The ones you want are blue in color, white lettering and SanDisk in a red field near top front of card.) The roscoby does not recognize the format and you will lose video. Also use up to 4gig, no more.
