    The best thing I think is the spool. They beveled the top of the spool and it lets you cast great distances very smooth. I have both front and rear drags and both are better than anything I have ever used in the spinning reels. You don't even have to fish with to know you are holding a great reel and it just gets even better when you get it out on the water. Own this reel and you won't go back to what you were using before. Its just that good.

      For the money this is a great reel. I have owned many Shimano reels and the Symetre 2500 has given me great service. Light weight and can handle red fish up to 12 lbs.

        Used the real twice and it has performed flawlessly. Had a small, issue with the line coming off the spool before casting but this was in a 35 to 40 mph wind. So far it's everything it is supposed to be. Got last years model because it has the A-RB bearings and the new model only has the stainless bearings. Don't always believe what you read on the retailer's websites, all we're incorrect. I have an '89 Shimano spincaster and it is still going strong and working smoothly. Good products.

            I have two of these reels. They are as smooth as it gets and very powerful for such a small reel. I have the 2500 size and it handles 6lb and 8lb flourocarbon like a dream. I love my spinning reels for finesse and worm fishing and the Symetre is tops. If I could only take one set up to the lake, it'd be my Symetre 2500fj on my 6'10" G Loomis gl2
