I'm an absolute novice at camping. I set up this tent with very little difficulty...(in advance in my house).
********
Directions were one page..and inadequate..but I don't read 'em anyway.
In the wild...put the unit on a TARP..on it's side. Undo the center legs. then do the lounge leg...making sure the sides are not caught. Heck of a lot easier with a friend..but I managed alone.
The unit set up is MUCH easier if you do not try to use as a lounger. Set up the lounge outer leg first. The do the other leg.
Hook the strap on the center leg and secure...but not too tight. strap the other center leg.
With all four legs, out..and strapped...flip unit over onto the legs. Pull up the sides.
The poles come in two sections. make a long unit. push into sleeve. Repeat. Each of the four ends slides/snaps into holder. To get poles out..unhook all FOUR sides first then push Back one rather than pull...since they are in two pieces...connected with elastic.
The (optional) rain fly cover is easier if unzip and do two sides opposite the opening...then do the legs, then zip.
That is it.
When new...air the puppy out...to rid the chemical smell.
Add a nice XL (WIDE) self inflatable air mattress..like Therma-Rest...and a pillow.
Therm-A-Rest Luxury Camp Sleeping Pad Dark Blue, Extra Large works great...I push the pad to the other end...then add the pillow where the pad stops. If you are short, the pillow can go on top of the pad...and there is room at the end.
***
I'm a side sleeper..and am use to a King bed.
This is adequate in width..but I had to move completely to one side...to stretch out sideways.. At 5'6" I can stretch my arms completely over my head.
********
There are little elastic ties for holding both mesh and tent flap.
Notes from users. This will blow over in high winds (maybe store something heavy when away form camp). Bring second tarp for cooler and gear since tent is small. Add a mat for feet when get up...for bare feet..while you sit and put on shoes. You can sit cross legged in tent. Great for privacy.
Vent a little for air (condensate), if condensate opening up hour or two will dissipate. Warm with rainfly..but usually WILL need sleeping bag. Will need fan in Summer in hot areas. Best rain gear is tarp above unit...hung in trees. Or VENT...& use tarp clips to hold the rainfly away from the doors for improved air flow.
Air out a couple days before using. Set up at home to test before using in field. Sets up in seconds to ten minutes...Using as lounger makes it harder to set up.
On cold nights, close all the doors and just crack open the two built-in vents to stay warm and comfortable.
NOT a back-packing item. Weighs 25 pounds.
Bulky (34" X 36" X 7" folded). Fits in the trunk of a large car, the back end of most hatchbacks, or will take up the back seat leg room. measure car before buy.
There are hanging storage pouches at either end, sewn into the roof with small pockets. They are handy because they are easily reached when you're lying down and easily hold those items you may need in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning. glasses keys, LED headlamp. Can clip fan or light too.
will fit in the bed of pickup truck (without toolbox). You can be up off the ground in case of torrential rains or if the campground is full.

i like the quick set up. when opening, legs should lock in place some how. i have the new one with the raised roof i like that part but when you put the poles in its so tight it looks like the seams going to ripe. dont know how it will hold up over time. plus its hard to get ploes out of sleaves when taking down . could use a tie or hook in top inside for fan light.

Pros
- Large enough and stable
Cons
Best Uses
- Camping
I work for a race prep team, so I sleep in the semi trailer at race tracks. This is way more comfortable and weather doesn't matter. I'm also 6'4" 325lbs. and I have more then enough room.

Set up is easy. Extra foam or air mattress and a portable fan are a must. Use a tarp rather than the rainfly in hot, wet, muggy weather. Also has the option to become a lounge chair which is cool. This is not for backpacking due to the bulkiness. The "Oversize" model is great because it has a domed roof for more head room.

I used the tent cot in 30 degree weather for boyscout camping. I put a tarp inside under my sleeping bag to help block out the cold. The unit worked extremely well, I was warm and slept very comfortably - highly recommend this unit for the outdoor enthusiast who is NOT backpacking.

Q:
would i be able to put my gear in it for an overnignt, and still be comfortable?Asked on 11/1/2010 by Anonymous1 answer
A:
Yes, but it all depends on the size of you & your gear. I also use a waterproof zipped gear bag that attaches to & hangs from the underside of the cot. It keeps your gear dry & up & out of the muck & mire. It is made by the mfg. & available online from several sources - just search on "Kamp-Rite".Answered on 12/10/2010 by Phil from Rochester, NY

Is it comtorable.Does it keep the rain out. Will the sun dry rot the cotAsked on 6/21/2009 by Kryptonite from Chicago2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It does keep the rain out, and the sun will not dry rot the cot. However, this is comfortable as long as you are not claustrophobic or plan to put camping gear in it you will be comfortable.Answered on 6/22/2009 by Paul from Gander TechVERIFIED BUYER
A:
Yes , it is comfortable - you do need a good pad - but you would sleeping on the ground too . The domed roof helps rain roll off top and does not pool up there . I don't know about sun / rain rot - I use the rain fly & have not had a problem . But I never pack it away wet and if there is shade , I set up in it. .Answered on 7/1/2009 by Horse camper from Ohio
