    Comments about Double 8 Elevators, 4-Pack:

    I used these elevators to build the base for a 4x8ft deer blind. I was originally concerned of using 10ft legs and 5/4x6inch cross braces because I thought it would be flimsy and bow under the weight of the blind or sway in the wind. I was pleasantly surprised. When we lifted the blind the legs didn't bow at all and it uprighted into place very easily. The base is extremely sturdy and exceeds my expectations.

      Comments about Double 8 Elevators, 4-Pack:

      Built a rock solid 10' 6x6 box style stand using these. Once cross bracing was installed, no wiggle whatsoever. Would have given it a 5 star rating had the required lag bolts been included. Would certainly buy more in the future when I build a second one.

          Comments about Double 8 Elevators, 4-Pack:

          I am ordering my 6th set. I use them to build elevated box stands. Very sturdy. It is best to assemble the flooring and sides once the stand is elevated. I have used 8 foot legs, but I actually prefer using 10 foot legs (4by4's)

              Comments about Double 8 Elevators, 4-Pack:

              Good product and easy to install. I built a 4x6 fully enclosed blind to go on top of the elevators with 10' 4x4s underneath. Good idea but very, very difficult to raise. Had to use a block and tackle and tractor to get it upright. Wouldn't recommend going higher than 10 feet and probably 8 feet is better. Overall the elevators really made the project sturdier and easier to brace.

                        Has anyone made a 6' square platform with roof and handrail on 16' long legs using the elevators?

                        • A:

                          Just built one with a 5 1/2' square platform on 16' 4" x 4" poles. Framed the platform with treated 2" x 6" boards, including 2 (2" x 6") support braces under the floor. Floor made of 2" x6" boards 5 1/2 feet long. Box on top has 3 1/2' walls and roof. You will need 8 ea 16' (5/4' x 6") for "X" braces on each side. I also put 4 ea 10' (5/4" x 6") around the bottom of the poles.

                          I make them strong to be safe and last long. The last one I built is 25 years old and solid as the day I put it up. Vandals have knocked it over at least 3 times since I put it up but all I had to do was stand it back up and drive in a couple more nails.

                          I invested around $350 in this stand and it is heavy. I don't plan to ever move it. Gator

                          any size you want,however you might want to make your platform out of 2x6 or 2x8 if your going huge.

                          I used them to build a 4' X 8' tree house for my nephew and used all pressure treated material.....
                          it has held up quite well even over the winter here in New York. We have also used them to build a 4' x 4' hunting blinds . They seem to be well made and we have had as many as 3 adults in the large tree house at one time , so I know you can go at least that size .
                          I hope that this has helped.

                          I tried to send a picture along with this email but it wouldn't let me send it.....sorry :{

                          I do not know the "structural design maximum", but I would not be daunted by a 10 X 10 well constructed BUT LIGHTWEIGHT platform. If one wants walls, still in light weight form, I would stay within 8 X 8. The secret to keeping it raised in weather is the anchoring used. I guess 100 square feet is a good baseline maximum.
