Product Description
mossberg Precision-made, easy to handle and just as easy on the eyes, the Reserve Series provides an outstanding over-and-under at an outstanding price. These Shotguns share the same classic lines, craftsmanship and reliability associated with so-called "high end" over-and-unders without the high-end price tag. At the heart of every Reserve Series Over-and-Under is an underlock design, box lock action for superior strength and low profile. Precision machining keeps the action completely closed - dirt and debris doesn't get into the receiver, reducing wear and maintenance, while manual extractors provide a smooth, effortless operation of the action. Every 12, 20, and 28 gauge Silver Reserve Series shotgun is equipped with five interchangeable choke tubes and wrench, providing the ultimate in versatility with lead, steel and other non-toxic loads.

Comments about Mossberg Silver Reserve Field Shotgun:

[...] First, the gun - I handled both the 12ga and 20ga versions, and the 20 won hands down. I never hunt waterfowl, just grouse, upland game, maybe pheasant, and shoot sporting clays locally, so didn't really need the payload of the 12ga, and absolutely preferred the quick and smooth handling of the 20ga. The wood to metal fit is tight with no gaps, the checkering is very well done. The stock stain seems darker than it needs to be, but I can't fault the quality of the work or the wood. The silvered receiver gets a lot of positive comments from others! The screw-in chokes are easy to use, the safety/barrel selector works easily, extraction is always positive. I really prefer 2 triggers (as on my 50-yr old import) but getting used to the single trigger was no problem. The recoil pad is ok, but I think I'll install a thicker one to get me a little more stock length (I'm 6'2"), and to cushion a bit better when doing extended clays shooting from this light gun. Overall I give this Mossberg a very high 9 out of 10. I could not see spending $1000 more just to get prettier wood or a brand name that starts with a "B" (although I own several Brownings and am eyeing a Beretta Mosquito). Regarding the actual purchase experience, I have to say I have not worked with finer men. Both guys knew their product, asked me appropriate questions (why I was looking at a Mossberg, why I was wanting a 20ga, why an over/under, etc) and had ready responses to my own questions. [...] If I decide to hunt waterfowl I'll certainly go back to this store and get the same shotgun in 12ga!

        Service and delivery comments:

I purchased the gun off the rack, everything was perfect. Was happy to find not 3 choke tubes (as advertised) but 5!

Comments about Mossberg Silver Reserve Field Shotgun:

This gun balances well and shoots great, the stock drop at the comb is a little short to my taste(I'm 6'3"). But if your worried about taking your $1400-$2000 dollar o/u in the field than this gun is for you, and leave the spendy one for the skeet range. I've taken grouse, & pheasant performed great in windy & rainy conditions. Can't wait to go duck hunting with it. I own it because I can't afford the better stuff that I previously mentioned. This shotgun is worth every penny I paid and more. I'm purchasing the 20gauge version for my 13 year old son. I also shoot skeet with it to stay sharp. Great gun 2 years running no problems.

Comments about Mossberg Silver Reserve Field Shotgun:

needs new firing pins every 1000 to 1500 rounds so not good if you put a bunch of rounds through it at the range. it's alright for hunting. I can also have [...] get me this gun for under 500 bucks but gander mountain is usually high on their firearms.
