A slightly modified version of the Browning designed Model 1886, the Model 71 was designed to be Winchester's ultimate lever-action rifle. The hard-hitting .348 cartridge was found to be very effective against North American big game. The Deluxe Model 71 has a checkered grip and forearm. The Long Tang version of the Model 71 is the pre-war version of the rifle that's not only rarer than its short tang, post-war counterpart, but also built to a higher standard of quality with better, more costly parts. This 1936-manufactured rifle features a ramped front sight with a peep rear sight and a half-cock on hammer safety. Its wood is in good condition and its metal and bore are in very good condition.
