The most respected bolt-action rifle in the world, the Model 70 has earned the nickname, "The Rifleman's Rifle." It features a high-quality action of considerable strength, with 2 forward locking lugs and a Mauser-type non-rotating claw extractor. Unlike other rifles of the period, the Model 70 has a slot in the bolt face below the locking lug, leaving both forward locking lugs solid and stronger. This rifle was custom manufactured by the U.S. Repeating Arms Company of New Haven, Connecticut. Its 24" match-grade, cut rifled, stainless steel, tapered round barrel provides incredible accuracy and durability. Its stock is a handmade black and grey laminate with a semi-gloss polyurethane finish and a classic configuration that includes a Schnabel forend tip with a black decelerator recoil pad. The rifle's grip has been hand-checkered with a Model 70 point pattern. Among other unique features, the rifle includes a hand-honed receiver, squared lugs on the bolt body, a polished bolt face, a one-piece stainless steel trigger guard and magazine cover, and front and rear sling swivel bases with detachable swivel slings. The rifle's wood, metal, and bore are all in very good condition.
