Winchester’s lever-action Model 55 is an updated version of their 1894, one of the best-selling, most dependable rifles ever made. The complex but reliable receiver mechanism was designed to permit the cycling of longer cartridges than previous Winchester rifles could permit. When the lever is pulled down, it brings the bottom of the receiver with it, opening up more space and allowing a longer cartridge to feed without making the receiver longer. Specific to the Model 55 is a 24-inch barrel, an integral ramp front sight, and a half-magazine that holds three cartridges. This 1928-manufactured rifle features a blade front sight and a flip-up adjustable peep sight. Its wood, metal, and bore are all in very good condition.
