Designed by John Browning, the Winchester Model 1890 is the first slide action .22 rifle ever successfully developed and manufactured. All Model 1890's were furnished standard with plain walnut straight stocks, a crescent butt plate and 12 groove slide handle. The third model of the 1890 is distinguished by the locking cut made on the front top of the receiver to allow the breech bolt to lock externally. This second model takedown rifle has been rebarreled and features a blade front sight with an adjustable rear sight. Its wood and metal are in fair condition and its bore is in good condition.
