Designed by John Browning, the Winchester Model 1890 is the first slide action .22 rifle ever successfully developed and manufactured. All Model 1890's were furnished standard with plain walnut straight stocks, a crescent butt plate and 12 groove slide handle. The third model of the 1890 is distinguished by the locking cut made on the front top of the receiver to allow the breech bolt to lock externally. This 1910-manufactured rifle is a third model takedown and features a 24" octagonal barrel and an adjustable rear sight. Its wood, metal, and bore are all in good condition.
