      Although a good idea, the hook is designed to accept a very large latch hook. The average one is too small and falls out. I ran a bead of silicone inside the grooved hook which decreased the size, and the smaller latch hook fits fine now.

        My husband found the Captain hook a few years ago, but unfortunately we left it behind at one of the launch ramps last year. I was able to find it in the Overton's catalog, ordered it and actually had the product in time for our annual Salmon fishing trip. My husband was so happy, makes pulling the boat out of the water much easier!! I would recommend this product to anyone with a bigger boat, 20 feet+... (We use it on a 25 foot boat).

        I bought this to keep me from getting into the water to hook the winch strap to trailer my 23' boat. When extended to 5' not able to push the hook on past the safety spring in the hook too much flex in the pole. If by chance you do get the hook in the bow eye you can't get the hook out of the pole and you have to winch the boat on the trailer with pole stuck in the bow eye. Good idea but needs redesign junk as it is.
