Individually-wrapped solid cube fire starters burn at over 1300° F, yet cool nearly instantly when snuffed out. Excellent for fire starting in any weather and at any altitude. - A:
  Yeah they can be extinguished and stored for later use. I usually shave a little off the cube with my pocket knife into a little pile under the teepee set-up of sticks I use to build my fire, then place the remainder of the cube back in my tinder kit. It lights fairly easily with my blastmatch to, unlike some other pre-made tinder products whcih are a pain in the butt to light with a flint & steel/blastmatch/magnesium block. The wetfire cubes are easily the best ready-to-use tinder products I have ever come across, I make sure to put a few in each of my "emergency kits", and the ones I give my family & close friends every Christmas.

  Yes
  It cools down as soon as you out it out. put it in a small ziplock bag and use it later.
  the trick is to scrape a small amount off the small block and start that on fire, and put the rest back into the ziplock bag.
