Comments about Western Powders Blackhorn 209 Powder Muzzleloading Propellant:

This is truly a great product! First trip to the range 22 shots fired with no cleaning at all. Breech plug removed without the aid of a tool. All groups shot at 100 yds were within 1.5" with at least half less than 1". Cleanup is simple with a few dry patches first then two patches using Hoppes 9 or any oil based gun lube. Use regular shotgun 209 primers! Half the cost of ML specific 209 primers. I got 50 110gn volumetric loads from a single 10oz can of Blackhorn 209. Works well in any environment.

I took this to the range and tested it beside my 777 that i have been useing for years.all i could get was 1 in at 100 yards with a lot of smoke.Tested 20 rounds each useing a traditions 50 cal pursuit LT and a 250 sab bullet and 90 grans loads. After useing the blackhorn I was getting 1/8 deed center at 100 yards with very little smoke.and i could load after load without cleaning befour my next shot. All in all I will never use another powder. And one more thing.I dont see any rust after a day on the rang

Comments about Western Powders Blackhorn 209 Powder Muzzleloading Propellant:

Have been using this powder now for a year before writing this review and all i can say is this powder is great. i can shoot 25 shots out of my TC pro hunter and still have no problem getting another 250 grain hornady sst down the barrel. 90 grains seems to be my ideal load for the gun. After buying this i gave away a whole jug of 777. My dad was a American pioneer guy and now he shoots blackhorn also. You get what you pay for with powder.

Comments about Western Powders Blackhorn 209 Powder Muzzleloading Propellant:

I use a muzzleloader for shotgun season and the late muzzleloader season. Blackhorn 209 works great for me, wish I would had tried it long ago. Been hunting for some 60 years, wouldn't steer you wrong. Try it you'll like it. CHET

Comments about Western Powders Blackhorn 209 Powder Muzzleloading Propellant:

I use this in a .45 cal CVA with Harvester sabots and a 200gr XTP. At 50 yards it shoots one jagged hole. It makes little smoke and cleans up with Hoppes #9. Mine shoots best with a hot primer. I use Federal 209As, some go with CCI Magnums. A 10 oz bottle, the price seems high but when you do the math it's about the same price per shot as pellets. Read up on it before you buy, you must have a closed breach gun. I have a Remington 700 ML and it's a no no for that gun so do your homework first before you spend your money.
