The Tri Beam is a nice feature to wake up my older FL-8. My old transducer didn't work after an unfortunate 15mph toss from my shack on glare ice and I bought this. I fish a lot of deep water suspended crappies and the narrower beam settings are nice to be able to turn the gain down and make reading small jigs easier. The 20 degree come is nice for searching for fish and shallower water. I haven't had any problems with my transducer yet and it appears to be well designed.
