A true legend, the M1 Garand was the first semi-automatic rifle to be used by the military of any nation. The official US Armed Forces service rifle from 1936 through 1957, the Garand saw combat use up through 1966 and is still used by drill teams and military honor guards today, as well as being a highly sought-after firearm for civilian hunting, target-shooting, and collecting. The M1 rifle is a gas-operated, semi-automatic, clip-fed rifle that features an "en bloc" clip system that allows ammunition to be inserted from above, clip included, into the fixed magazine. From 1961 through 1986, Universal Firearms produced an M1 produced more than 426,000 M1 reproduction rifles. The early Universal M1s used surplus GI parts and the later rifles were newly fabricated. This rifle features an adjustable rear sight and a 2-position safety. Its wood, metal, and bore are all in good condition.
