Designed as a close-range defense weapon for trench fighting, the M1 Carbine has been used by militaries around the world. The M1 Carbine uses a bolt system that is very similar to that of the standard M1 rifle and a lightweight tappet-and-slide gas system. During World War II, many outside companies were contracted to produce M1's for the US government, including the Underwood Typewriter Company.
This historical firearm has a Type 1 rear sight with no bayonet lug and is one of only 550,000 produced by Underwood. The carbine has an Underwood 10-43 flaming bomb stamp on the barrel. The rifle also has a "GHD" inspector stamp, a J replacement stock stamp, and a crossed cannons inspector's cartouche all visible on the stock. The carbine is in NRA excellent condition and comes with a military olive drab 1" web sling.
