The Springfield Trapdoor Cartridge Rifle and Carbine were first produced for the military in 1873. These guns were a redesign of the Army’s Allin Trapdoor rifle chambered for the new, more powerful .45-70 military cartridge. True to the original, Uberti’s Springfield Trapdoor has a hinged, arched breechblock that pivots forward for loading. The barrel is blued steel with a case-hardened breechblock and buttpad. The Carbine-length Trapdoor has a 22” barrel and a sliding ring and bar that clips to a carbine sling for carrying. This rifle features a blade front sight and an adjustable leaf rear sight. Its wood and bore are in very good condition and its metal is in good condition.
