I have shot and carried one of these pistols Everytime I am in the Great Outdoors hiking and camping. The 1858 New Army is Well-Balanced and a Joy to Carry. When I am Around the Campfire at night,it makes a Great conversation piece about early Western Frontier History. It is Reliable and Accurate to Shoot. It's Beatiful to Look at and I Have a Hardtime putting It back in Its Holster. The Only thing I can complain about is the Wooden grip handle is Not long enough. My two small fingers slide under the bottom of the grip. This Black Powder Pistol is My All-Time Favorite Handgun that I Own.

A brass framed Cap-and-Ball revolver will not last as well as a steel frame. The brass is too soft, and will eventually "shoot loose." Its better to spend the extra and buy a pistol with a full steel frame if you intend to actually fire it.

Comments about Traditions 1858 Remington New Army .44 Revolver:

It's very Important that you do your research befor owning one of these, they can be quite dangerous if your going in this blind. They are very simple and easy to use. One thing to remember is to never ever use modern smokeless powder, you MUST use black powder or black powder subsitute.

Comments about Traditions 1858 Remington New Army .44 Revolver:

Hi,This black powder gun is the best weapon in the market right now .It is why I did buy it from GanderMountain 1 year a go .Shoot nice and it use both lead balls or conical bullets .The knock down power of this gun is to compare with a .38 Special revolver .Both of them has the same velocity and power .The price is around [$] and you need also to get the black powder which run around $50 with the cap#11 or #10.I did put on my gun the #10 cap to fit tight on nipples .Remember when you fired this gun a black smoke with comes together with the lead ball or bullet. Also a flash light will be see at night time.I take my gun to the local gun range [@] in West Palm Beach ,FlThanks.
