extremely well designed.. i would make one change on it though.. the plate that mounts infront of the motor section.. i would make the plage a little longer and made so can fit under the motor mount and bolted to the boat there instead of bolting seperatly..some boats have a lip where it would mount and needs spacers to even it out.. if this plate would slide udner motor mount , those 4 bolts would be more then enough to hold both.. also add line that heaver so wont break and loose anchore if in rough wind or water.

The Screws in the plastic cover were striped by being put in too tight at the mfg. Were also rusted on the inside where they were threaded into the bracket.Had to drill one out and re-tap the threads and go purchase other stainless screws to replace the bad ones. After that everything else was basic and easy to do. Anyone without the right tools and know how would have sent it back for a replacement.

Comments about Trac Fisherman 25 Anchor Winch:
Killed my battery in no time, had to pull the anchor in by hand after 3 uses. Poor design, should have a neutral free spinning funtion for releasing the anchor. Has a mind of its own, while we were unhooking the boat it turned on by itself, almost put the anchor through my back window and it wouldnt shut off, i had to cut the wires. Awful!!!

Comments about Trac Fisherman 25 Anchor Winch:
Installed on my 14' Princecraft Yukon with 16lb. river anchor works great. Might I suggest when you receive yours that you change the bolt on the guide roller to a size 7/16. The winch recovery will be much quieter.

I am conserned that the anchor rope could or would recover on the the spool at the same spot. Is there a level wind product that would distribute the anchor line equally on the spool.
I have a 20' Aluminum Smoker Craft fishing boat is the 3/16 line sufficient to hold this boat in windy weather.Asked on 7/19/2009 by David from Syracuse, New York1 answer
A:
Dave, i was just looking at the anchor winch myself, and wondering the same thing. I have a 15' Smoker Craft. on a small lake just south of you near Homer. Right now I use a !/4 line with a 20lb anchor and it holds fine. Depending on the quality of rope I think 3/16 would work fine. I am seriously thinking of purchasing one the next time I head to Gander MountainAnswered on 3/16/2010 by Gravy from Homer, New York

Q:
What is the strength of the 3/16 " rope?Asked on 5/3/2009 by Sisko from Acton, Indiana1 answer
A:
Since this is an anchor winch you need to know that this winch has a 25 lb. max. anchor capacity. That is the strength of the line. This product states that it is suitable for a boat up to 21 feet long. So a 20' smokercraft boat is less than 21' long. It would be plenty suitable for that boat also. There are not any accessories available for this anchor winch that will aid in recovering the line, because we have not heard of the winch having problems in doing this. If there were to become a problem with it we can tell the supplier that something needs to be done. We are on our third year of selling this product though and never heard of a line recovery problem yet.Answered on 9/24/2010 by Technician from Overton's
