I installed the ladder on the stern. The ladder has wide steps making it easy on your feet. I added screws on the hooks to prevent them from going too deep and causing the ladder to rise off of the transom, to prevent strain on the plastic mounts, and also to keep ladder level. I also added a bungy cord to prevent the ladder from coming loose accidentally while in use. Quick removal allows for fast storage and the unhindered fitting of my boat cover.

The ladder is easy on your feet, offers good support, and is compact. However, it really does not float. Also, I had to shorten the "cups" in which the ladder rests. If your boat's like mine, (G3 LX20c) the doors won't clear the "cups" which for me meant 15 minutes with a hacksaw. Also, a set screw that helps hold the top rung in place was missing. I had to fix that too. Lastly, in choppy water, the ladder could lift out of its cups and separate from the boat. Overall, the ladder's good but not great.

Comments about Toonmate Removable Folding Pontoon Ladder, 4-Step:
I have to call Customer Service on this ladder. I had one like it for 10 years and it finally broke. I liked its design, so I ordered a new one. The New Ladder arrived in a week. Went out on the lake this weekend 10/21/12, and when my wife went down the ladder, the third rung gave way and she fell into the lake. There is supposed to be a Set-Screw that holds the Step in place, and it was missing!! Not very happy as I had a boat full of people and no way to get anyone in or out of the lake and back onto my pontoon boat. I'll make sure to check anything I get from Overton's now before heading out on the water.

Comments about Toonmate Removable Folding Pontoon Ladder, 4-Step:
Using a 1-3/8 hole saw on my drill motor, this installed in a snap. Your experience will depend on the material of your decking, of course.
The only small issue is that the handles have a tendency to sink all the way into the socket holes, which means that the supports do not touch the pontoon. I imagine you could either put a stop in the holes themselves, or a sleeve on the handles, to keep that from happening. Or do what I do, just slide the ladder up a little to make sure the braces hit the pontoon before putting weight on it.
Still worth it for ease of installation and use. The wide steps give a good grip.

Q:
The mounts are already on the boat. They are 1 inch in diameter, but are 13 1/4 inches apart (measured from the middle of the mount. Will the ladder fit?Asked on 6/28/2010 by Robert from Saugatuck, MI0 answers
Q:
Will this letter holds a 250 pound personAsked on 5/4/2010 by tina from hudson fl4 answers
A:
Yes, just make sure the ladder is as close to verticle as possible. When using stay close to the ladder, with elbows bent as opposed to arms extentened. I am about 250, the tubes of my ladder bent just below the hinge, but is still usable.Answered on 6/26/2011 by Rich from Hudson Lake, IndianaVERIFIED BUYER
