Comments about Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Mattress, Long:

I've used other Thermarest products in the past. After reading the reviews for this product, I decided to try it, even though it seemed really expensive compared to other sleep pads. While using it on a two week backpacking trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in Northern New Mexico, I was very surprised, as it is extremely comfortable, rolls down to a tiny size. I would highly recomemend this to others. I've purchased an addition (regular( for my daughter.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Mattress, Long:

I tried to justify this purchase for about 8 months before I actually bought it. I am an avid backpacker and trying to get ounces lower is always on my mind. I was heading on another trip to Glacier National Park when I finally decided to bite the bullet, spend the money and buy this pad. Wow I am so glad I did. I had 4 of the greatest night sleeps ever in the wilderness. About a month after that I spent 3 nights in Adirondack shelters at Isle Royale and again this pad performed beautifully.
The pad inflates with ease and about 25-35 breathes. It also compresses down to the size of a water bottle when in the stuff sack (which I wish came with it :( ). For the first time my sleeping pad was in the pack rather than strapped to the outside.

The only thing about this pad is it looks somewhat delicate. I am not sure if it is or not (survived those trips) but I was very careful with it while I was out.

pros- small, light and inflates to a nice size.

cons- pricey, delicate (?), no stuff sack
