After reading other comments on "narrow foot strap issues", I studied the strap design and decided I could easily shorten the strap using my sewing machine.
With the sandle on and the long strap across the top of the foot adjusted to where it was comfortable on me, I strapped the buckle as far as it would go (on my foot I still had a finger width under the strap), then cut off the desired length from the TEVA TAG END(the same strap that is across the top of the foot), pulled the cut end through the buckle bar and back-folded it over the strap, used a satin stitch to sew down the raw edge, and another forward and backward line of stitching closer to the buckle bar. Wa-la! It works perfect! The Tag sits on top of my foot now, but it looks like a design feature. I just finished 10 days of daily wear (city to trail use) in that awful East heat wave over July 4 holiday and had no issues. My buckles stayed put. I'm going to order another color!

I have worn Teve sandals for approx. 20 years, I should say have lived in them and have a love affair with them. It saddens me to report the Zirra falls short of the quality I am used to. The ankle strap buckle does not stay tight, hence, I tend to loose the shoe or have to tighten the strap every 30 minutes. If not for this flaw I would buy every color.

Teva, please put a better buckle on them next year and myself and others will love them

Comments about Teva Womens Zirra Water Sandal:

Bought these to use at the lake instead of typical 'water shoes." Stayed on feet well, felt stable and non slippery when walking on rocks. Very comfortable and not bulky looking. A tad bit wide.

Comments about Teva Womens Zirra Water Sandal:

These sandals are great for walking. I walk my dogs 2-3 miles a day wearing these sandals in warm weather. I would order a half size smaller than you normally wear. I purchased these to replace a pair that my pup gnawed through. Originally I had a size 8 which was a little long. The 7/12 is perfect.

I have owned these shoes for a little over a week now and have worn them every single day. I wear them to run errands, go on walks, and even to a pool party. I'm definitely getting my money's worth out of them and my feet feel great!

I use them as everyday shoes and for my 1- 1 1/2 hour walks in the warm weather. I wear socks with them until the weather gets really cold. Love not having to wear enclosed shoes to walk because of the great arch support.

Comments about Teva Womens Zirra Water Sandal:

These shoes are it for me. If Teva makes these forever, I will buy these forever. They are timeless and durable. I bought my second pair last week after 3 years of regular wear. My first pair I still do wear, but more for the dog park/walk because they are worn down. I took these out of the box 3 years ago and immediately left for a 2 week trip to the London olympics. I walked the entire time wearing them. No blisters, no sore feet, or back!!! So hard to find shoes that are that comfortable right out of the box. I also have worn them hiking. While I find Chaco's clunky, heavy, and restricting, these were totally great on rocks or maneuvering hills and lightweight. Lastly, I wear these with skirts or even dresses in the summer time and they look classic and stylish. Love the options there. I usually wear a 10 and got a 9.5.

Only negatives: I have the black pair and the sole starts to look dirty after a while. Even when you scrub, it still has a haze to it. This isn't a big deal because my feet cover it. I could see however if you got a lighter color, it would potentially stain. With black I don't worry about mud or dirt getting on them. 2nd negative: one of the straps is getting pretty thin from the years of tight pressure against the little buckle under my ankle. It is about half worn through now. But again, they are 3 years old.

Moral of the story: Buy these.
