Product Description
teva With full coverage for maximum protection, the Omnium Leather Hiking Shoe provides excellent fit and comfort. It may look like a casual leather sandal, but it's built to perform. The Omnium Leather is great for travel, light-duty off-road adventures, and will hold well in amphibious environments. This durable hiker features a waterproof, stain-resistant full-grain nubuck leather upper; a polyurethane/EVA Shoc Pad in the heel cup for shock absorption; integrated toe protection to keep feet safe in rugged terrain; multiple openings in the upper to allow water to drain freely; and a Spider Original nonmarking rubber outsole for uncompromising grip in wet environments. So my mom had a pair of these boots and she just raved and raved about how great they were, and I didn't get it because I love boots but no way could any pair of shoes be as awesome as she was describing.
I had been hunting for shoes that could withstand my upcoming trip to Norway next February. I'm doing a hut to hut, so I really only have room for one pair of shoes and my cross country ski boots. I also did not want to buy a pair of ugly slogging through the snow snow boots because...well if I'm only going to have one pair of shoes I want them to be cute.
So as an early birthday gift, my mom gave these to me. I've had them for approximately 14 hours, and I already can't shut up about them. They are sleek, they look real nice. I haven't encountered rain, but my mom told me that she really only wore these boots for the entire winter, and we live in Portland, OR. So it rains from about November to July 4th.
Also they are so comfortable, holy jeez, I didn't even know boots could ever feel like this. I have a pair of pretty spendy combat boots that are no where near as comfortable as these shoes. They are like heaven on my feets.
I have not discovered one bad thing about them, except that it's a little difficult to get the dang peg into the other holes on the straps because the holes are kinda tight.
These are the best boots. I can wear them to work, to the bar, in the outdoors and if the zombie apocalypse happens, you better bet I'll be wearing these babies.
If you are on the fence about these boots, buy them. Your wallet might be sad, but your feet will be singing the hallelujah chorus.

I purchased a pair of Teva men's Omnium Leather sandals last year. I am EXTREMELY disappointed! The sandals have failed in four (4) locations and are failing in a fifth. The attached pictures show the failures:
1. Right sandal heel on right side came unglued within three (3) months of purchase. I glued the rubber back in place thinking that the problem was just an aberration. Then the following occurred.
2. Right sandal sole on right side came unglued.
3. Right sandal sole on left side came unglued from the left side all the way through to the right side.
4. Right sandal heel on left side is coming unglued.
5. Left sandal sole on inside has come unglued.

I do not wear shoes hard and have done nothing to cause the failures pictured. It is obvious that if I continue to wear these sandals, they will fail completely and I could injure myself while walking, climbing stairs, etc.

Comments about Teva Mens Omnium Leather Hiking Shoe:

I'm on my 2nd pair of the Omnium leather, and my 1st ones are still going strong, after several years of fairly hard use.
Teva makes a wider than most shoe / sandal that fits my foot well. The traction is good, espeically on rocks, like scrambling.
No real hot-spots for me, & once I adjust the straps & tensioner, it's set. I don't always need to latch the buckle, if I'm wearing casually, for even more comfort.

The closed toe seems to keep more debris out, but still allows good breathability.
The leather & stiching wear very well, (although I don't use them in water a lot.

I'd recommend these to anyone who needs a rugged, comfortable & even stylish sandal.

Comments about Teva Mens Omnium Leather Hiking Shoe:

I just finally replaced my Teva Omniums after three whole years of rugged use! I recommend your replacing them a lot sooner, for maximum shock absorption--but you get the point: these babies really last! I walked on all surfaces with them, hiked the hills in them, and even occasionally took short runs in them (I never used mine IN water, but occasional dampness dried quickly). Aside from the incredible durability, I like the classic, conservative stylishness of a rich brown leather with minimal brand markings, and a front toe protector that is not nearly as noticeable as that ugly Keen creation. My first hike in my new pair today felt like I was wearing a "cloud-walk" comfortable pair of my Asics Nimbus running shoes. Also, they felt already "broken in." If you can only travel with one pair of footwear to any warm-to-moderate climate, the Omnium is what you want with you--it is certainly adaptable to business casual with a pair of matching socks. Easily adjustable straps adapt to use with bare feet or with socks of any weight. I buy the same size as my running shoes, which is always one size bigger than my street shoes (I'm a 12 street shoe, so I buy the 13 Omnium). I do not endorse many products, but the Teva Omnium Leather is a true winner. I hope Teva always keeps this great sandal available.
