      Yes, these tachs are universal, but they do not work with 20 polls alternators. That usually means force.

      A:

      Teleflex tachs and speedometers are 3 inch diameter and all of the others are 2 inch diameter. This will fit any alternator except a 20 pole alternator. The alternator is the sending unit for the tachometers.

      No, it will not fit a 2-1/4 hole. It needs a 3-1/4 opening.It is set up for 4/6/8 cylinder inboards and 2/3/4/5/6 pole outboards.
