The best part is my boat steers again. The bummer is I had to HACK up the old set up and adapt the end of the new piece so that it would connect to my 1987 Johnson VRO 70... I was very disappointed that they did not offer any sort of connection pieces. As I said I needed to dismantle old cable, rig up a new connection, and weld it together. It works so all is well that ends well.

Comments about Teleflex Safe-T Quick-Connect Rotary Steering System, SS137:
This steering system was a perfect upgrade for my boat. Replaced 25 year old factory system. I had to make factory hole in counsel larger but this was easily accomplished with a grinder. Install into torque tube was simple. Running the cable and installing into gear box was equally easy. I am no mechanic just a regular guy and it seems anyone could install this high quality system. Works buttery smooth with minimal effort.

Q:
lowe 18 ft pontoon boat--will these cables work on itAsked on 2/4/2010 by bobby from meridian ms1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
These cables will replace OEM rotary cables and after-market rotary cables. The key is that you need to know whether your system is rotary or rack and pinion and replace with the same system that you had because it is much more difficult to switch between rotary and rack and pinion.Answered on 2/9/2010 by Justin from Overton's

Q:
I have a 12 foot gamefisher aluminum boat will it worksAsked on 7/21/2009 by Anonymous1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
If you have a rotary system on your boat this is a great replacement. If you have a rack and pinion system currently then you need to replace it with a rack and pinion system. Either system can potentially work on you application, but you need to replace it with the same kind that is currently on there for the easiest installation.Answered on 12/7/2009 by Justin from Overton's Technician
