  Yes it is electric and the sending unit is called the oil pressure sending unit, and is the diameter of a quarter approximately.

Can I wire this up without running the oil line through the boat. My boat has the guage but it does not work and I'm looking to take it out and simply wire in a new one with out running a oil line to the motor.
