I had problems with mine breaking as well. I called Taylor Made and talked with a customer service rep. I was looking to buy replacement parts but instead they sent me a complete new anchor shade.
I called expecting to have to buy parts and was suprised that in a total of 5 minutes an order was placed for a free replacement.
The replacement does have a different locking mechanism so hopefully this will take care of some of the issues that have occured to others.
I would definately recommend this product due to the redesign as well as the outstanding customer service and no hassle, free replacement.

We purchased this item thinking it would provide much-needed shade on our 2000 Nitro fish & ski without requiring the installation of permanent hardware. We purchased it for use at anchor or on beach.
The shade worked adequately the first time out (at anchor), but the guy lines rigging were not very functional; these need to be a rig that will allow tightening in order to keep the shade properly centered, and they should allow for easy adjustment so the shade can be placed at different heights. These were not; just had a D-ring so required manual re-tying for every adjustment.
But that's not all.
On the second outing, one of the support arms for the shade snapped. Made of flimsy plastic.
NOT WORTH WHAT WE PAID. Not even close. Taylor Made should be ashamed of this product.

Comments about Taylor Made AnchorShade:
After a day in the sun you need some shade to relax and eat your lunch. This product goes up quickly and down the same. Stores in it's own case. It keeps the shade where you need it without getting in the way of the sun deck. I didn't want a bimini top in the way all the time. This is a great way to get shade when floating and get it out of the way when cruising.
It's not intended for windy days or curising but if you want shade when parked this is quick and easy.

Comments about Taylor Made AnchorShade:
Very poor product! Used once and had to fix the latch that holds it open. Used a second time - no problems. On the third use, one of the braces broke at a pivot point while opening. Repaired it. Fourth time, another brace broke at the same place so we threw it into the dumpster at the boat ramp. Please do NOT buy this product!

Comments about Taylor Made AnchorShade:
Great concept on the product and very versatile uses either on boat or on beach. Our was broke [...]. It is a really large umbrella so if we worried that it would have the same issues you have with a regular umbrella since it was broke at where it connects to the corner of the outer umbrella.

Q:
When folded up, how long is it? Would like to know how big of an area is needed to store it when it's not in use.Asked on 10/5/2009 by Anonymous2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It is like an unbrella, so it folds down on the center pole. The center pole adjusts from 6 foot to 8 foot. It only fits in it own carrying/storage case at 6 foot so my answer is.....6 foot. Hope that was helpful.Answered on 10/7/2009 by Overton's from TechnicianA:
About 5 feet long by 4 inches square. I have 3 of them. Love hem. Watch for a windy day as it will invert and break in halfAnswered on 6/20/2012 by Dougstubs from Ft.laud. Florida

Q:
I have a 23'3" V shaped bowrider and the driver a rear areas are covered by the stock bimini top. Will this product work in the front V-shaped area of my boat?Asked on 5/26/2009 by Glenn from San Antonio, TX1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Glenn - It should work in the v-bow as long as you have enough space to tie the 4 corners off. The shade is 6'X 6' and then you will to have enough space to pull the tie downs at an angle to hold it secure in all directions.Answered on 5/27/2009 by Michael from Overtons
