Comments about Taurus® Model 738 TCP Handgun:
First off i had great service from Gander, the experience was easy and great. Second I love this little gun, it does take a few boxes of shells to break it in to get it running smooth, other than that its great. Love the stainless slide, extra mag, and pouch it comes with. Very happy!

Comments about Taurus® Model 738 TCP Handgun:
Initially, I thought that I had made a mistake in buying this. I loaded up a clip with Winchester USA Centerfire FMJ .380 ACP, 95gr (this ammo was unusual for automatic ammo in that it is target ammo but had a flat nose; kinda like .357). I trying cycling a few rounds, and on every one of them, I had to bump the slide to get the round to chamber. Not a great start.
However, there was an easy fix, and it all comes down to understanding the maintenance of your weapon. If I had started at the range instead trying to sort this out at home, I could have saved myself a lot of grief. All that I needed to do was to buff and lube the ammo feed...and then actually put a few rounds through it. Shazam, it worked perfectly.
If there's a single drawback to this handgun, it's that it has no safety. To balance this, it has a long trigger pull but if you intend to carry this handgun, you need to practice, practice, and practice again keeping your finger off the trigger while drawing. Since I can't give this handgun 4.85 stars, I'm going to round up to 5 stars (dealing with the lack of a safety is a training thing anyway).
It's unnoticeable to carry, it's easy to take down and clean, and you can place rounds in the center of a torso target at ten yards. An unexpected bonus is that .380 ammo is plentiful (everyone else is snapping up 9mm/.45 ACP). As it turned out The Winchester ammo was the best for it; unless you are very well off (and have lots of $$$ to experiment), don't bother getting personal protection ammo. I tried two boxes of two brands with 20 rounds each @ $24, and I turned the TCP into a single shot handgun. I had to slap the slide to get the rounds to chamber, whereas the Winchesters performed perfectly after the prep maintenance.
