Initially had a bad extractor. Sent back to Taurus. No problems since. Shoots any ammo I put thru it. I'm not greatest pistol shooter, but I can draw from holster, double-tap and hit pizza box from 7 to 15 yards. Any accuracy issues I have are probably ME. Not meant for long-range.
I carry all the time, pocket holster. I don't wear tight pants any more (everyone around me is glad!!!) and you cannot tell I'm carrying. I like having 9mm vs 380 or 32.
I guess everyone is different, but I love my 709!!!

Comments about Taurus® Model 709 Slim Sub-Compact Handgun:
I bought this for conceal carry, as well as something smaller to shoot at the range. The recoil is very manageable, and it's a comfortable gun to shoot. I have very small hands and am a small guy overall so the gun just matches me a bit better. I don't need any grip extension, but again I have very small hands. Tear down is quick, parts all seem durable, and it goes right through inexpensive ammo with no problems. If you want a small 9mm, or are looking for a good carry gun, I'd consider this.

Comments about Taurus® Model 709 Slim Sub-Compact Handgun:
It seems a few people had some bad experiences with the 709, but it has worked well for me. I took it to the range and hit about 80% in a 11x17 paper target at 25yds; more than adequate. The ergonomics take a little getting used to. Since the guard is oversized and the top of the receiver is angled up, you have to figure out where to put your finger if you want to keep it off the trigger (e.g. racking the slide, etc.). Also, get the pinky extension (Pearce Grip Extension). I have small hands, but not that small. My pinky would slide off the bottom of the grip when shooting. Now, it has a place to rest and greatly improves the feel. The magazines only hold 7, so you may want another. All in all, it's easy to use, easy to carry concealed, and a decent value.

Comments about Taurus® Model 709 Slim Sub-Compact Handgun:
I use this mostly as my personal protection piece. It fits so well you hardly know it's there. The only issue I had with it was the hand grip was too short so I bought an extension for the magazines and that took care of it. The only jam I had was on a bad shell. I hope that this helps someone who may be on the fence, it really is a great protection gun.

Comments about Taurus® Model 709 Slim Sub-Compact Handgun:
This was my summer carry before I bought a SW Model 60. Ammo capacity and ease to conceal ranked high with me as well as the more powerful 9mm compared to .380 or .38. I like to carry it in the waistband, I had carried it in a pocket holster but found it felt like I had rolled up socks in my pocket and it wasn't comfortable. First time I fired it I was all over the target, but that was corrected the second time all center mass, 100rds not a single malfunction. Like anything, practice makes perfect. I don't like the external safety, this is my draw and fire gun and I felt the trigger safety was adequate and I carry with the external safety disengaged. The trigger pull is different to say the least but after a few magazines I was used to it. I have small hands, the grip is very comfortable and fits my hand well. The magazines are small and I carry two spare magazines with me affording me 22rds to defend myself which is more than enough.

Comments about Taurus® Model 709 Slim Sub-Compact Handgun:
This is my everyday carry weapon. This is not a competition piece, isn't meant to be. It's designed to hit center mass which it does very well. I carry in a Desanti Inside the Waistband Holster. Light, Slim, I tuck my shirt in and around. Cannot tell it's there.
