With the stainless steel 856, Taurus has added 20% more firepower to their small-frame revolver with virtually no gain in size. Like the best-selling Model 85, the 856 is built to handle +P-rated .38 Special ammunition, but the 856 holds an extra round, giving you six shots to hit your target. The snub-nose 856 is capable of both single and double-action fire. A transfer bar mechanism prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled fully to the rear while the additional Taurus Security System consists of a keyed, quarter-turn style socket-head screw which can be set to prevent the hammer from pivoting back into the frame, thus rendering the weapon inoperative. This revolver features laminated wooden grips and a ramped front sight with a rear groove and comes with the original factory rubber grips. Its grips, metal, and bore are all in very good condition.
