Comments about Thompson Center Arms Thompson/Center® Impact™ .50-Caliber Muzzleloader, Realtree® Hardwoods HD™ Camo:

First year as a muzzleloader hunter, so I wanted quality at a decent price. I got both (especially with a sale plus $50 coupon!) and couldn't be happier with this gun. Easy to setup out of the box with a Bushnell Banner 3x9x40. Easy to clean, easy to load, and pretty darn accurate up to 150 yards (sub-three inch groups). Opened up a bit at 200 yards (5 inch groups). Used with Barnes TE-Z 250 sabot and 95 gr Blackhorn 209 powder with Federal 209A primer. I missed the deer, but that was my fault, not the guns. Overall, I highly recommend this ML for the beginner/intermediate or those on a budget.

Comments about Thompson Center Arms Thompson/Center® Impact™ .50-Caliber Muzzleloader, Realtree® Hardwoods HD™ Camo:

After purchasing an Impact for my daughter three years ago, I decided to sell my CVA Optima and get one myself from Gander Mountain to simplify our use in the field and allow my daughter to use my rifle as a back up to hers. The CVA was a fine black powder rifle but it had a very long length of pull and was extremely heavy. One of the nicest features of this rifle is the ability to remove a 1" spacer from the stock for youth or others with shorter arm length. This is a much better option for us hunting out of ground blinds than some other models. My daughters rifle is the black/blue version, mine is the Realtree/weathershield model. The Impact is an accurate and easy to shoot and clean rifle. The hood release is a unique but functional break action design. My only complaint is that the hammer is a bit hard to reach when the rifle wears a scope, and with no serrations on the hammer surface or after market hammer extensions available, it can be a little harder to pull back into the cocked position for some. Other than that, I have been extremely pleased with the Impact, both the 2010 and 2013 versions.
