Comments about Savage Arms Stevens Model 320 Shotgun:

For those that don't know - the Stevens models are made by Savage Arms. Savage has been making weapons since 1894 in Massachusetts (although they export 97% of their inventory via a plant in Canada).

This was the first ever gun I'd bought on my own. I wanted a shorter, pistol-grip shotgun for target shooting and home defense. Not only did this fit the bill but it was priced well below anything similar.

The firearm is durable despite being made partially of polymer. This model comes with a synthetic stock and pistol-grip. I've put close to 200 shells through it so far and never had a single issue. Such a fun gun to shoot!

If anyone is considering buying this and wants to mod it at all, I've had luck with Winchester 1300 parts fitting this gun. I put a sight mount made for a Winchester 1300 on my Stevens 320 and it fit perfectly.

I have shot many 12 gauge before this gun is one of the most fun and confortable shotguns i have shot. Its pump action is nice and easy very smooth. A lot of fun in and out of the range great gun.

Comments about Savage Arms Stevens Model 320 Shotgun:

We wanted a shot gun for home defense but we were on a tight budget. This one fit the bill though. I wanted a basic 12Ga that also had a shorter barrel and a pistol grip. Now for the review

I and my wife were both able to handle it no problem at the range. I was worried about her because she had never fired any rifle before (and it had been years for me) but it felt really good. We first took it to the range and put about 100 target shot shells through it and about 10 each of these "Home Defense/Managed Recoil" rounds. Out of 120 rounds there was one glitch. At around the 40th or 50th shell, I went and pumped it like normal to cycle the next round up and in. But instead of the new shell coming up from the tube and entering the chamber, the new shell came out the bottom of the magazine tube where you feed shells into it. Basically I pumped it and the gun said "No" So I gave it a quick visual inspection, everything seemed fine, so I pumped it again and didn't have any more trouble the rest of the day. I think the problem might have been that I didn't clean it when I first got it home. So later that night I completely disassembled it (Thank you YouTube, because it comes with basically no documentation) and thoroughly cleaned it. It did seem like it had a lot of machine oil on the inner workings from the manufacturer. Any way, we took it back out like 2 months later and ran about another 100 shells through it and not one problem that time. So I am fairly confident that one hiccup was my fault for not cleaning it before using it.

Now then, for what I would call the cons:
It does seem to have a good amount of kick to it. It bruised my shoulder. Not bad, but there were definitely bruises. The thumb release on the left hand side of the barrel to release the slide feels awkward to try and use with your right hand thumb. Like someone else mentioned, I couldn't find any aftermarket parts for it at all. Not that you need any though. The guns great the way it is. And the slide feels a little stiff to me, but again, it's still new and will probably looses up as time goes on.

Other than those couple of things, it's a great weapon. Honestly it really deserves like a 4.5 out of 5 stars but there's no way for me to do that. Don't hesitate to buy it if this is what you are looking for. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Comments about Savage Arms Stevens Model 320 Shotgun:

I wasn't sure of the Savage at first, but I'm glad I took a chance on it. Cycles cleanly and without hesitation. My only gripe is that they don't have any "options" fit for the gun. I've read it's a Winchester 1300 clone so I'm going to try out one of the Surefire WeaponLight Forends on it. Aside from that, a fantastic piece of weaponry.
