Designed as a close-range defense weapon for trench fighting, the M1 Carbine has been used by militaries around the world. The M1 Carbine uses a bolt system that is very similar to that of the standard M1 rifle and a lightweight tappet-and-slide gas system. During World War II, many outside companies were contracted to produce M1's for the US government, with less than 250,000 made by Standard Products of Port Clinton, Ohio.
This historical firearm has a Type 1 rear flip sight and no bayonet lug. The carbine has an Inland Mfg. Div. 12-43 date stamp on the barrel due to the fact that Standard Products did not produce their own barrels and a P proofmark on the barrel as well. The rifle also has a Hillerich & Bradsby manufacturer stamp and a crossed cannons inspector's cartouche visible on the stock. The carbine is in NRA excellent condition and comes with a military olive drab 1" web sling.
