Comments about Whitecap Stainless Steel Slam Latch, locking:
Although I was unable to use this product, and had to return it because it was the wrong size, compaired to what I was atemping to replace, I was impressed with the overall stability and make up of the latch. I wish it would have been the correct size as it seemed to be of a much better quality than what I was attenpting to replace.

The slam lock does not have a key. You have to lift the latch and turn it to "unlock" it. Then when you turn it back in to position to close it is is then "locked".Answered on 9/3/2009 by Chad @ Overton's from Greenville, NCVERIFIED BUYER

There are several versions of this item that whitecap makes but they only give us one picture to give you a good idea of what it looks like. You are correct though this is a picture of the nonlocking latch, but we do stock the locking slam latch, which is this item, and it will come with keys to lock it with. Here is the supplier's advertisement for the locking and the non-locking latches. They use the same picture for both as well.
