Bought this safe to hold my long guns and to store some extra ammo. Easy to mount and looks great for the low cost. Excelent for keeping firearms secure. Not a safe to use for fire protection, but does work well where little hands could get. Very secure if you mount to the wall and floor. Only two (2) issues that I have found with the mounting is that you can't get power tools in while securing to the wall. And the door is loose even when shut. To remove the play I just cut some foam strips with adhesive backing to the inner door jam and now the door fits tighter and seem to give a better secure door.

I bought this to store guns in rented storage. It worked OK, but no one broke in.
When they broke into my house, it took a couple of teen age hoodlums about 10 minutes to break into it by carrying it to a hard floor and jumping on it. My mistake, I didn't screw it down. I think if it it WAS screwed down, it may have slowed them by 5 more minutes, and cost me a lot more damage to walls and flooring. It would NOT have held them off.
It does keep the kids out.

Locks are for honest people.

It holds my 4 long guns & one hand gun with room for ammo & cleaning tools. Eazy to anchor to wall and still add pistol - ammo cabinet at a later time.

Product came dented inside shipping cartons. No damage to cardboard on outside. Looks like to many other things had been stacked on it either by mfg. or at Gander whse. Other on line reviews said the same. Would advise picking up at store to make sure not dented.

Adequate storage space for my marlin 30-30, Browning 12 ga., and a few boxes of ammo. Definitely could use the smaller cab to stack on top to hold 9mm and ammo. Overall, satisfied for price. Will keep little hands away.

Sort of like flat sliding bolts- there are 3, one goes into the side and the other 2 into the top and bottom. Hope this helps

          • A:

The locking system secures the door at 3 points: top, bottom and a very substantial clasp at the lock itself. The door opens and closes easily even though there is no door handle and once locked there is no "play". This cabinet would be a challenge for any thief and requires more than a hammer and screwdriver for entry. No child or teen is going to access this cabinet without the key so do not loose the keys or you will be calling a locksmith.

The lock works on a centrel cam that secures the center, top and bottom with rods.

          is this safe child proof
          Asked on 6/14/2009 by Anonymous

          1 answer

          • A:

Nothing is foolproof or childproof. Under determined attack by either, everything will yield eventually.
If your question is "will this safe keep my honest respectful young (under 10yrs) child out for a short time, the answer is "probably".
Your best defense is education. Take away the curiosity by allowing the children to see and hold your unloaded guns while questioning you about them. As you give them the gun, make a big deal out of checking it to make sure it is not loaded, and then make THEM check again after you give it to them. Check it AGAIN when they hand it back. Take the time when they handle it to impress on them they NEVER point it at ANYONE or anything they are not willing to destroy. I always took time to impress on them that if they ever touched my guns when I was not there, they need be much more worried about ME. Sitting might be problematic. They will want to see several times, but go thru the drill as often as they want (and you can stand).

It is a steel gun CABINET which I think could get confused with a gun SAFE. The cabinet will offer some security but not like a safe. Yes, I think this is a good deal but not if you are looking for high security or fire protection you need to look at our safes.
