Comments about St. Croix Triumph 6' ML-Power Spinning Rod:

O.K, I had always fished with cheap rods, got the job done, but easy to break. Recently decided to step it up and buy a St.Croix Triumph, albeit their entry level rod. On the first trip out with the rod, had a great time, caught a bass on the first cast. Big deal, probably could have done that on a cheap rod.
When I reluctantly had to leave because it was getting dark, remembering that there were deep holes in the road to the pond, wanting to get back out before it got too dark. In a hurry and not in the best judgement I put the rod in the back of the truck with the end of the pole over the side rail of the bed, only a short ride home.
Upon getting home and retrieving my gear the St.Croix was not where I had put it. Apparently on the road from the pond the lure grabbed into a tree limb and had yanked the rod and reel to the back of the truck, jamming it between the dog box and the side of the pickup bed and zipped off 130 yds of braided line leaving an empty spool.
A bad feeling came over me as I picked up the St. Croix. Well, not broken, all eyes intact. The only damage I can find is a short scuff mark apparently from the aluminum dog box and that was superficial, did not even penetrate the rod coating. This being a medium-light rod I will tell you that I am highy impressed!
I just made another purchase, a new rod for my other reel, a St. Croix legend 7' from Gander.

And St.Croix, I promise to take better care of the rods, not that I need too!
