Good grill but wouldn’t stay lit if the lid was closed. I determined the lid was smothering the flame because the manufacturer only put 4 small holes in the lid. At first I kept the grill lit by keeping the lid cracked open with a fork. Finally, I drilled 6 more holes in the lid and now it works great. Good even flame

Great grill, but a few issues...1) The actual grill you cook on and the metal heat deflector are cheap and both rusted quickly, but I replaced with after market parts [...]. 2) The grill doesn't get hot enough and it blows out easily, but I drilled out the gas-feed hole with a 3/64 drill bit, and now it's super hot. This hole is on the piece that has the on/off valve. One end attaches to the propane bottole, the other end is where the hole is and it's inserted into the grill. 3) The grease-catch swings all over the place and can fall off easily. Also, it's small, so be careful. It works, but just barely. This is an expensive grill, and I can't believe they don't resolve this. Once these few things are fixed, the grill is great and I love it. The housing is very sturdy, and has weathered being outside for years.

Comments about Springfield Marine Springfield Grill with Pedestal:
This is a great grill will fit six hamburgers on it with room for a few hot dogs. I have used it four times and each time was great. The flame will go out with a gust of wind but what small grill won't. No problem with it heating up. I had to turn it on low to cook hamburgers and dogs so they didn't burn. I have had very few flare ups due to the shield. The dip cup comes in handy keeps the grease off the carpet. Stays in place when we were sitting on the water. I take my grill down after it cools and everyone is full. The only problem I had was my own fault, I dropped the lower tube into the water they do not float!! I called to see about replacing and you can order a new pedestal for $119 so I recommend not losing it. This grill also does not come with screws for mounting and do not forget the propane. Happy grilling!!!!

Q:
There is a small part that came with our grill that I can't figure out where it goes. It looks like something that would keep the lid from going way back when opened or hold something in place. It has a spring with round locking hole and sawtooth.Asked on 7/15/2012 by Lisa from Pennsylvania0 answers

Q:
So do you just screw the bottom mount into the deck of the boat. I am not understanding how may reviews say it can be mounted anywhere... with no holes required. It certainly won't just stand up with no screws or?? thanksAsked on 6/2/2009 by Smitty2 from dallas, tx2 answers

The base plate mounts to the floor of your boat just like a table system does. The plate is screwed into the floor but does not require you to drill a 2" hole (size of the pedestal) like other systems require. The pedestal then screws and locks into this surface mounted base plate.Answered on 6/3/2009 by Michael from OvertonsA:
Just installed one on my pontoon boat. You'll need to bolt the deck mount into the deck. It took 6 SS bolds and washers to get it down solid. Then just screw the post into the mount and your in business. When not in use the polls fit inside the grill which in turn fits nicely under one of the seats on my boat.Answered on 6/10/2009 by slingshot from North Carolina
Q:
Does this grill hook into where a table would go on a pontoon boat or do you have to mount it elsewhere?Asked on 3/14/2009 by Matt from Arkansas2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
You can put this grill where a table was if the specifications match up, however we cannot guarantee that it will work. The plate that is pictured at the base of the post allows you to install it almost anywhere on your boat's deckAnswered on 3/23/2009 by Charlie @ Gander Tech from Greenville, NCVERIFIED BUYER

Unfortunately there is not going to be one at this time. I know that it is a possibility that is being considered in the future.Answered on 12/10/2008 by Charlie @ Gander Tech from Greenville, NCA:
I bought an 6 foot adapter hose at Lowe's several years ago that mates to the fitting with a standard LP bottle connection. I couldn't find it on the Lowe's website but here is a link to a similar hose on the Home Depot site.
