Comments about Buffalo Tools Sportsman Series 4,000-Watt Portable Generator:
I bought this over two years ago and have the house wired for outages. Never really needed it till now. Storm came through three days ago and knocked out the power. I fired this generator up and set the circuits for everything I needed. It worked great! Ran flawlessly and gets about 6 hours to a tank of gas. Easily ran sump pump, two refrigerators, small appliances like coffee maker, and most rooms with one or two lights. I kept the load lite intentionally. It never quit running for three days and absolutly no problems! Drawback is no wheels but I set mine on a small moving dollie and I can roll it where ever I want it so that's OK. Great product for the price!!

Comments about Buffalo Tools Sportsman Series 4,000-Watt Portable Generator:
First of all, I ordered this online and had it in my hands within 3 days! That was impressive. It was easy to set up, really easy to start, and it. I bought this as a back up for when the power goes out here, which is at least 4 times a year. I've plugged various appliances into it, just to check and all seems fine. I dont WANT to use this, but when I do, I'm sure it will perform well.

Comments about Buffalo Tools Sportsman Series 4,000-Watt Portable Generator:
I am totally off-grid here in Vermont.
I bought generator on 12/1/2010 and am still using it today! I run this 4000 watt daily- at least 4 hours in morning and 4 hours in evening. During winter month I use it at least 12 hours. I run all items listed below on my 4000 watt generator:
(2) 21" Tvs with satellite with HdDvr,
2 computers with satellite and printer
(8) energy efficient light bulbs
(1) 4' shop light,
(2) 2' shop-lights.
When needed I use Toaster , slow cooker, shop tools such as drill, skill saw, table saw, re-chargeable spotlights, drills, vacuum cleaner, 4 cordless telephones, chargers for cell and cameras. With absolutely no draw down from generator, except maybe the table saw but not too bad.
I can not leave out where I bought this item because "Gander Mountain's 4000 watt generator" out lasted any other that I purchased elsewhere, which they were exact same make and model. The plant where they are being made needs to be commended! Also Gander Mountain gave me free shipping which was a plus! And price was cheaper than other places.
My cost per day for gas to run is about 5 gallons which is approx. $20.00 with the exception of winter months it is more. I check oil every time before start and add when necessary 10w40 oil in summer months and winter 10w30. I'm also very careful not to overfill oil.
What repairs have I had to do: replace gasket 3 times on valve head/cover, spark plug blew out, had to use rope instead of pull starter because dogs kept falling out. The spring broke near carburetor, but was lucky enough to have spare from old sportsman 4000 watt generator. It dropped a valve head but replaced with other sportsman 4000 watt generator. Good lessons to learn if you prefer staying off-grid save your old sportsman generators you never know what little part you may need to replace and don't have time to wait for company to send new part. I also do all my repairs myself. All 4 of other Sportsman 4000 watt generators have engine seize so spare parts are nice. I have used larger generators such as Titan 8500 but had endless problems let alone the price of gas was outrageous. Any question feel free to ask! I love you Gander Mountain!!!!
Note: I keep my 4000 Watt Generator in storage shed with one door opened at all times and approximately 12" off ground on wood floor.

Comments about Buffalo Tools Sportsman Series 4,000-Watt Portable Generator:
The Gen would only push out 2200w before the engine would begin to bog down, add another 500w and the engine would die..But If I turned things on slowly...1 at a time..it would then make a gallop... It is quiet and easy to carry...Not for your RV..
