Product Description
smithwesson Smith & Wesson wanted to deliver maximum power for serious handgun hunters. The power they sought required an entirely new frame, the massive X-Frame, and was the basis for the Model 500, the most powerful production revolver in the world. This ushered in the era of the "big gun" and was only the beginning. What followed was a Model 500, strong enough for the biggest game, yet easy to carry.

Comments about Smith & Wesson Smith & Wesson Model 500 Handgun:

First Off I have the 8.5" barrel version with Leupold scope. I do reload my own ammo, I am shooting Hornady XTP's (350 grn). This gun can shoot 10" groups at 100yrds consistantly. I do not load hot loads as this makes it hard to manage. I also rest the barrel on a sand bag or shooting sticks when shooting/hunting and shoot in single action. It is deadly accurate and is catches a lot of attention at the range. The above comments complained of heavy recoil, sure I can make mine sting my hand with hot loads but it isnt necessary. It has a great grip. My gun with scope weighs in at 5.5 lbs, so it is tough to shoot free handed, but it can be done. If you are thinking of purchasing the 500, I recomend the longer barrel with scope, you wont be disappointed. Its not that bad.

Comments about Smith & Wesson Smith & Wesson Model 500 Handgun:

I bought this gun when it first came out in 2004, and it wasnt to expensive to shoot. 25 rounds of Hornady's were about $35, now they are over $50 for 20. It shoots very rough, not for the faint of heart. Sighting this gun in can be difficult, 5-10 rounds a day is allot. It probaly can take any game if needed, bullets can go up to 500 grains or even more if you reload. Would not recommend to anyone who is recoil shy. I am a 6'1" 275lb man and its still is a bit hard to handle.

Comments about Smith & Wesson Smith & Wesson Model 500 Handgun:

This thing is a beast so you better be strong.I never had a gun with a kick like this.If your going to buy the 500 get the longer barrel because the 4" is a wrist breaker.
