The trigger was soft, until almost fully squeezed, then a wall. Like squeezing a double action revolver. Not just me, many of my friends at the shooting range said the trigger would be a deal breaker. When buying it I would recommend trying the trigger. Squeeze it till you think its fully compressed then squeeze more.
very reliable tho. Three hundred rounds Thru it and no problems.

Comments about Smith & Wesson Smith & Wesson M&P40 Handgun:

Bought (2) MP.40's at X-Mas, one for my 21yr old son, one for me, then headed out-back to shoot, I shot fine, good groups and I absolutely LOVED IT!! The boy shot low and on center, REAL-LOW due to not being familiar with the trigger safety and long trigger take-up travel, resulting in him inadvertinly pulling/tipping the weapon's barrel down just as the weapon fires. More practice, and trigger control is needed for most new shooters.(trigger job/sear modification couldn't hurt) Over-all I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the MP.40,it fits your hand great, shoots great, and gets the job done!!
