These are very well made. I am impressed with the workmanship and materials. I looked into making these carpeted bunks for my boat trailer and as much of a craftsman as I am, I couldn't buy everything and do the work myself for what I paid for these bunks. This is the way to go boaters!

A pair of these were used for my 16' skiff's trailer. I drove two galvanized lag screws into each end, after pre-drilling pilot holes. The first time I used them, the screws ripped out of the wood on the short 5 minute drive back to my home. The wood seems way too soft for marine applications and are way softer than a normal 2x4. I'm going to have to pick up a 2x4 from the hardware store to replace it.

Comments about Smith 7-ft. Carpeted Bunk Boards, pair:
Used it for my 14 foot boat, And the thing that was great about it the boat slid off easy. Now the first set i bought one of the boards broke, But i dont know if it was my fault or not because one day i was backing down the ramp and forgot to click the winch lever up and the boat slid off the tailer, So time will tell with the new ones. Anyway good product.

Comments about Smith 7-ft. Carpeted Bunk Boards, pair:
To mount these to my skiff's trailer, I had to remove the staples, pull back the carpet, drill bolt holes, counter-sink holes for washers for the bolt head so they were flush with the board surface, and then restaple the carpet. When I removed the carpeting, the boards did not appear to be treated. This is surprising considering they are intended for marine use.
