Product Description
slide_anchor The unique offshore box anchor holds your boat at a 45° angle from the bottom, digging in the downward facing flukes without snagging them on debris. Easy to handle, this anchor gives you more control over the placement of your boat, regardless of water conditions. Toss the anchor overboard, and it will set within one foot of its landing. To retrieve, pull the line to bring the boat over the anchor. The lack of upward facing surface area allows the anchor to pop off the bottom. Stainless steel stabilizing arm folds compactly into the included ventilated storage bag. For boats 18' - 30'.

I'm new at boating, I have a Glastron 235GX and I had a hard time anchoring with a regular fluke anchor, very frustrating for me not being able to anchor even with lots of rope, for sure it had to do with my inexperience. I ordered this small box anchor, the design made sense to me, found a cove at the lake 10ft deep and 10mph wind, dropped the anchor as indicated, gave it 3x the depth (30ft of rope) and bam!, the anchor hooked to the bottom immediately, like a magnet, we swam for over an hour and the boat didn't move at all. We pulled the boat towards the anchor to remove it and we were almost on top of it when it let go from the bottom, the slight extra weight by comparison helps the box grip firmly. I was really impressed, great investment indeeed, highly recommended.

This anchor was recommended by many and had good reviews. In the lakes east of Pheonix, the anchor has had problems holding a 21ft wake boarding boat in windy conditions.

It's a pain to collapse and expand with the spring arm.

I did not really see a benefit over a traditional anchor that cost 1/2 of this anchor.

Comments about Slide Anchor Small Box Anchor:

I use this on a 24 foot pontoon boat. It is usually loaded with 6 + people and all gear as well as a 150 HP 4 stroke outboard. This holds in all bottom types and works perfectly for changing wind conditions. Never have to reset the anchor. Had a danforth anchor previously (same weight as this) and it never held and did not set quickly either. Throw this overboard and forget it!

Okay so you see this piece of metal costs a lot more than any other type of anhor....what's the difference? It works! I set mine without a chain and attached to an anchor buddy line in addition to a regular line. This thing holds my 25 foot tritoon without a problem in wind and waves. I find my spot in the cove..drop anchor right there...and I don't move! No "setting" the anchor...simply drop it and were done...

We spend our summers boating on Lake Mohave, Lake Havasu and Lake Mead. I'd bet three of the most windy lakes on the west coast. This weekend at Mead, we had steady 20 mph winds with gusts to 35 mph, boat never moved at all. There were three boats in our group all with the same SM box anchor, sizes ranged from 21' to 25ft. They all stuck hard with the wind and 3 ft waves. Awesome product I can't say enough positive. Buy it, you'll like it!

Yes. I use mine with my anchor buddy most of the time. Keep in mind that even the small box anchor is 15 pounds and that is really heavy to pull up manually with such a small diameter cord. It really hurts my hands.
