Comments about Sighting Systems Instruments Sight-Rite .17-.50 Caliber Muzzle Laser Boresighter:

The reason I purchased this product was primarily for a 50 cal. muzzleloader. I first tried it in a 270. win that was right on and the boresighter was pretty accurate, then I put on the largest set of O-rings for my muzzleloader but they were not large enough for the barrel. The boresight would sag in the barrel. Worthless for a muzzleloader but Ok for rifles.

Comments about Sighting Systems Instruments Sight-Rite .17-.50 Caliber Muzzle Laser Boresighter:

Out of the package I checked the laser run-out to the shaft. I found it to run out about 2" at 3 feet. I then adjusted the laser with the Allen wrench provided and got the run-out under 1/8". I found when using, lightly oil the o-rings on the shaft and it will slide into the barrel without cutting them. Also, I sighted the weapon using averages. That is, remove the laser, reinstall a few times as well as cycling the weapon. ( I was using on a 9mm semi-auto handgun).

Several other comments have covered the o ring problem. Its not a stable or accurate platform for getting sights even close to being on paper.

I don't want to sound negitive, but the fact is this boresight is not accurate. When pushing the lazer into the bore, the washers slide all over the tube.

Comments about Sighting Systems Instruments Sight-Rite .17-.50 Caliber Muzzle Laser Boresighter:

First off I have to compliment the people at the Novi, Gander Mountain store. They were very helpful and understanding concerning my frustrations with this product. Great Job guys!!
I bought this item excited about what I thought was a good deal on a laser bore-sighter that would work on all my firarms from my 17hmr on up to my muzzle loaders. First thing I did was to place the item into a rifle that I knew was dead on. The laster and my reticle were no where near eachother UNTIL!!! I rotated the bore-sighter in the muzzle. I discovered at 25 ft that the laser drew a 5 inch circle on the wall as I rotated it. I took it into work and used a V block and granite inspection table. when I nested on the housing the laser was pretty much dead on, confidence was building. When I nested on the either of the arbors the same result as in the muzzle a 5 inch circle at 25 ft. There are adjustment screws on the houseing, and I did play with those for an afternoon, but when I switched arbors there would require additional adjusting.
Sadly I had to return the item. My diagnosis of the issue is the housing and arbor are not concentric. Too bad nice unit other than that.
