Comments about Shooter's Ridge Shooters Ridge® 10/22® .22 Magnum/.17HMR Magazine:
These magazines finally give the 10/22 & 10/17 Magnum rifles capacity to be really fun to use, with reliability (with one caveat). Once loaded and installed you can shoot for quite some time between reloads.
Loading, however can be tricky, the double stack design doesn't always allow the cartridges to line up correctly when loading and can cause the rounds to bind inside the magazine, requiring them to be manually unloaded and then reloaded to get the magazine to function properly.
This can be easily avoided if particular attention is paid to how the rounds are stacking inside during the loading procedure. This is greatly facilitated by the see through plastic body of the magazine and isn't really a show stopper, as long as you are aware of it ahead of time and take appropriate steps to make certain all the rounds line up properly.
Once properly loaded, the hardened plastic feedlips work very well and feeding issues are very rare. I would still prefer to see metal feed inserts, but the plastic does help to keep the cost reasonable, and has functioned well up to now.
We'll have to see how long term reliabilty fares as they wear.
