Because it doesn't contain metal, it's impervious to rust. The strength and weight of CI4 results in an extremely lightweight reel with very precise tolerance. Also features Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement, Propulsion Line Management System, Aero Wrap II Oscillation, and shielded A-RB ball bearings. Aluminum spool and handle with round EVA handle grip. Waterproof Drag. Fluidrive II gearing. Dyna-Balance front end. Super Stopper II instant anti-reverse.

      I bought a 4000 CI4 when they first came out and absolutely could not be happier with that purchase. Since then I have purchased the same reel to make a different set up. Incredibly light, smooth, & sturdy. I have it set up with a 7'4" MH G Loomis Pro Green and I will never and I mean NEVER find a more versatile reel/rod set-up. I fish the flats and land large reds and have caught small bass with this as well. I use 30 lb power pro braid which is a little on the heavy side, but the reel can cast it a mile!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS REEL!!!

            This is by far the best reel I have ever used!! It is so smooth and is worth every penny! Its lightweight and constructed well! I love this reel and will never go with my old reels again! Shimano makes the best reels hands down!
