Comments about Shimano Spirex 4000FG Reel:

I love the Quick-Fire feature because I can take a novice fisherman out for a day on the water and within 5 minutes they can cast that bait accurately using just one hand. No pulling open the bail and having the bait drop into the water...just clean.... one finger releases and we're fishin'!

Comments about Shimano Spirex 4000FG Reel:

I fish in the Gulf (salt). I now use bigger bait than the fish I used to catch in MI (lol). I've read a lot (good) about Shimano. But, Its my first Shimano reel. I've bought only Okuma Inspira reels (no problems in 10 years) since moving to FL in 2003. Last one out turn the lights out.

I thought I'd give this cheaper model Shimano a try just for a change. I like the little casting lever thingie on the side. It seems to be a very smooth good quality well built reel but seems a little heavy (4000 mdl). It doesn't cast any farther than my Okuma Inspira. But...I like it.

I'll buy another Shimano. I've Got my eye on last years Stradic (FI) model. There clearance price just needs to drop about another 20 shekels. The Gander at The Mountain's Free Shipping is what closed the deal for me. I received it in two days! Excellent Service. So far...I'm a happy camper.
