I've used this reel to haul in the biggest bass of my life and a giant walleye. This summer I plan on putting it up against some muskie & pike. I'm sure it will be up to the task.

Comments about Shimano® Sonora® FB Spinning Reels:
Shimano really improved this reel. I was thinking of replacing my old reel, then went on a guided Steelhead fishing trip. This is the reel that the guide used...said that he couldn't find a better/more dependable one for close to the money. He was right. They work great!
A better reel will cost you a lot more.
Shimano needs to include a spare reel.

Comments about Shimano® Sonora® FB Spinning Reels:
The Sonora 4000 FB is a solid spinning reel. The weight is a little bit much, however, it can defenitly handle anything you can find in your local pond, lake, or river. I recomend a heavier than average rod to keep up with the Sonora, and a 8-12 pound line is pretty good. It works great with swimbaits. One of two downsides to me is that it might be a little heavy for the new fisherman but it makes up for it in power. And it doesn't come with an extra spool. But the one it does come with is very very nice. It holds miles of any side line. The retrieve rate is pretty good as well. It can also be switched between left and right side retrieves. Its defenitly worth the [$]. Hope this helps.
