Comments about Shimano Core Baitcast Reel, 51MG7:

This is my favorite reel. I purchased 3 Daiwa Steez reels, the generation just previous to the current one, but I prefer this to those. I wish I had purchased this first, I'd have 3 of these and one Steez. I think it is just a personal preference, because the Steez reels are great to be sure. I have not really tried to determine they why of my preference for the core, but I think it generally casts easier. The Daiwas may well caat further, they should, and they do have the advantage of being able to use the thumb release like a flip'n switch, and make no mistake, they are super reels, but this Core is what I generally prefer to use. So if you are looking at it, and can afford it, I would suggest that it would be highly unlikely that you'll ever regret the purchase due to performance issues. Shimano has a great track record, and this is an awesome reel. I wish I had done some more head to head testing so that this review might be more helpful, but I am too busy fishing to do that.

Comments about Shimano Core Baitcast Reel, 51MG7:

Great product that finesse anglers must try. I thought Curado models were good enough, but Core 5xMG7 is better in every aspect after I tried it.

I went beyond and replaced the stock spool bearings with the ceramic ball bearings. The casting is greater than ever.
