Would work great for a boat. I tried it to seal Highly polished Aluminium on a truck. It seemed to reduce the shine by about 40 per cent. Might be a great product if you are trying to protect Aluminium from the chemicals that they use on the road in winter.

Comments about Sharkhide Aluminum Hull Protectant, quart:
This product must be used after polishing of pontoons or rapid oxidation will take place. This product is the last part of pontoon cleaning. Begin with the acid wash, then sanding, then buffing/polishing and cleaning with laquer thinner, then this product to protect the finish. Once polished and this product applied the pontoons do look new with almost a mirror like finish.

Comments about Sharkhide Aluminum Hull Protectant, quart:
After cleaning the aluminum this is the best product I have ever seen for protecting against staining, discoloring, tarnishing, and just plain old water lines. I would recommend it to all who have a pontoon boat, and wish I had found it sooner.

Q:
Can you use boat paint over this protectant?Asked on 7/23/2012 by Rick from Fallbrook, CA2 answers
A:
This is for outter use, so you can not paint over this, but you can use this over paint.Answered on 11/6/2012 by Justin from Overton'sA:
No. I wouldn't advise to paint over Sharkhide or any other material for that matter. No paint type material should be applied over anything other than the primer that the paint company recomends.Answered on 2/14/2013 by tbirder from O'Fallon IL

I'd recommend a soft, smooth cloth (like a t-shirt) to avoid leaving lines or drag marks in the finish. Also, try to apply in cooler temperatures for better results.Answered on 5/11/2010 by Rick from ChicagoA:
The ONLY cloth the manufacturer recomends is a "WHITE COTTON BABY DIAPER". These can be found at any Wal-Mart in the Gerber Infant display. Look for a clear plastic bundle of 10 diapers made by Gerber, and on the front label, look for the words "Flatfold, BIRDSEYE, Cloth Diaper". This is the one to use!Answered on 2/14/2013 by tbirder from O'Fallon IL
Q:
How do I need to prepare the surface of the pontoons before applying the protectant? It says the it can be applied to New, polished, or acid-washed surfaces so do I need to polish or acid wash the surface first? or does "New" mean that no protectant has been first applied.Asked on 3/9/2010 by SteveM from Wilmington NC2 answers
A:
We would suggest you use a cleaner if the boat is used prior to putting a coat of Sharkhide on. A good suggestion is our item # 22264 which the Toon-brite Pontoon and Aluminum cleaner for $21.99.Answered on 2/6/2011 by Paul from Overton'sA:
On a "New Boat", just hot soapy water, scrub, rinse, dry then apply Sharkhide. If the boat is old and dirty, you can use Sharkhide Aluminum Cleaner or a cheaper brand aluminum cleaner to clean and remove the oxidized surface layer, then apply Sharkhide. If you do choose to polish, you'll need to thoroughly scrub the boat with Lacquer Thinner before applying Sharkhide. But when in doubt, call the folks at Sharkhide.Answered on 2/14/2013 by tbirder from O'Fallon IL
